Plush seating areas, charming art pieces, functional furniture, and a stylish theme combine to define the character of the Sycamore Tower interior lobby, another DMCI Homes development in the heart of Mandaluyong City.
Nette Oyales from Space and Beyond, consultant of DMCI Homes for Sycamore Tower's main lobby, made sure that her design intent for this unique space would be a classic example of simple elegance to match the overall feel of residing in this high-rise community.
"My concept for this lobby is to have a modern contemporary look with simple lines, a high ceiling and cove lighting to create the illusion of space and sophistication," Ms. Oyales explained. "I wanted to create a sense of spaciousness in the minimalist setting that would entice guests to stay in the area longer. From there, they can appreciate the details, which are infused with a blend of contemporary design and style that can pass the test of time."
The focal point is located at the center of the lobby, right across the entrance of the tower. Looming before this vantage point is a special work of art: A landscape painting featuring an idyllic rural scene of waterfalls and greenery, with local men in traditional farming attire. The "painting," which stands about 13 feet high, is a laser printed mural reproduced ingeniously on natural Mactan stone tiles and framed by a dark shade of Narra.
The scene alone, which is a delightful fusion of natural and modern technology, evokes a warm feel for guests who enter the lobby. As they are welcomed by a receptionist at the front desk, they will surely feel at home in this well-designed urban condominium. Even the front desk is above standard, with a jet-black granite counter top and wood veneer platform equipped with state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment.
While waiting for friends or associates, guests will be urged to wait at the sitting area. At the left is a minimalist setup of a cozy couch, center table and ottomans - tasteful furniture which readily sets the mood for a comfortable visit at Sycamore Tower.
From there, they can admire the clean and streamlined backdrop of the lobby, characterized by light brown panels in wood veneer that cover the walls. "This was influenced by the shade of the Sycamore tree itself. It simulates an overall look found in the sleek boutique hotels of Singapore and Hong Kong," Ms. Oyales explained.
A symmetrical groove is meanwhile established with the neutral dark chocolate hue of the sofa, the metallic shade of the vases adorning the side tables and the velvety fabric of the ottomans. Two tangerine armchairs with circular patterns found across the sofa setup serve as an exciting contrast.
The high ceiling of the lobby likewise elevates the play of space. Framed by cove lighting and recessed portions, at the center of the ceiling is a drop light of fancy artichoke-shaped lamps in white. "The six-meter ceiling height is truly an advantage because it creates a sophisticated look for our design. We also incorporated all types of surfaces, from wood, to veneer, fabric, and even refined plastic through the lamps. It's a simplified symmetrical look infusing various details that complement the function of the main lobby - as the center of impression of people coming in and out of Sycamore Tower," Ms. Oyales added.
Sycamore Tower is the second building at Dansalan Gardens, a sprawling 8,000 sqm development characterized by an expansive and lush outdoor tropical oasis. The 31-level tower features impressive condo facilities, including individual unit's drying area at the roof deck, four levels of basement parking, three high-speed passenger elevators, automatic fire sprinkler system, ample water supply, and space for commercial areas.
A total of 355 units, of which half are already sold, are equipped with individual electric and water meters, individual mail boxes with keys, and provisions for cable TV connection, intercom and telephone line connection.
Around the complex, residents will enjoy using the tower's resort-like amenities, including a resident's lounge, children's wading pool, adult swimming pool, indoor playground, landscaped gardens and koi ponds, function rooms, and sports facilities like a basketball court, fitness gym, and walking paths.
And pretty soon, the lobby will be much more vibrant with the increasing daily traffic of residents, friends, relatives, and guests, as well as prospective buyers who visit Sycamore Tower. They should expect no less than a welcome befitting five-star standards.
